Hello I am Don Mills, Membership Director.

 

 Welcome to all the new members of the Sun City Grand Men’s 18 Hole Golf Club. 

We exist to afford all residents the opportunity to test their skills, meet new friends, compete in organized events, and share the knowledge of the game. We play on Wednesdays, year round, except for October. Starting in November, we have both morning and afternoon tournaments each Wednesday. Our tournament are played under USGA rules, thus affording everyone the opportunity to complete equally and perhaps win prizes. However the main objective is to have fun.

 

The application process usually is done in two days, allowing you to sign up for tournaments. The $40 membership fee is used to pay your annual Arizona Golf Association’s (AGA) Handicap maintenance fee ($25) and the remainder is for club operations($15). Your membership information is entered into AGA(Arizona Golf Association) as well as our handicap and tournament software, in addition this information is entered into the signup web portal You will need to register using the first and last name you used on your application to use our online signup web portal to play in our tournaments.To check the status of your application contact me  Don.Mills@scgmgc.org, other club contact information is under the SCGMGC Board Contacts Menu above, and is also posted on the Bulletin Board at the Granite Falls Golf course). 

Establish Handicap

Once you complete the application process you will have to establish a Men’s Club handicap to be eligible to play for prizes in our tournaments. By a vote of its members, it was decided that we would only use verifiable Wednesday Men’s Club scores to determine club handicaps. You can establish your Club handicap in the following ways:

 

 

 The Club is responsible for verifying and posting your Wednesday Club scores to maintain our club handicap. You are responsible for posting all of your Wednesday scores (enter all properly adjusted ESC scores) into the AGA computers located in the various pro shops or by recording it online from your home computer.   The AGA updates its handicaps every month on the 1^st and the 15^th and will issue you a Trend Handicap Index after you have posted 5 adjusted scores before the 1^st or 15^th of the month. We will use that AGA index as your club handicap until you play 3 times on Wednesday and establish a Club Handicap. Tournament Rules:

Tournament sign up is done online only!  After your membership is processed your application data is entered into our club sign up portal, there are links and instructions how to register and signup on our homepage including a link to the signup website from our homepage. NOTE you have to register on the signup web portal to gain access to sign up or cancel out of tournaments, once you register, you will use the login name and password you have selected to sign up for tournaments. Once you have properly registered and logged in you can sign up for cancel out of our tournaments. Tournament signup is available two weeks(Wed nite 2 wks prior) prior to the tournament. The pairings are available with a link on our homepage and on our bulletin board at Granite Falls each Monday morning for the following week’s Tournament (3 days in advance). If you sign up and have to cancel, you can cancel on line until Saturday noon the program will remove you from the tournament, after which you will be fined . The website will generate a a standby list after the maximum players allowed to sign up is reached we will use the list in the order of signup to replace individuals who had to cancel. You may sign up for either AM play or PM play, not Both or you will be fined! During the heavy part of the winter season a overflow tournament will be available if needed, be sure you sign on the correct tournament for the course and time you want to play.

Check-In 

If you sign up for a tournament and are put on the Roster to play, you must check in at the tournament table and pay a $5 entry fee, at least  45 minutes before the starting time. If you do not show up or are late, you will be scratched from the tournament and will be fined $5 for a single man events and $10 for a team event and you will not be able to play until your fines are paid.

Pairings 

Please check the Bulletin Board or Club Website http:\\scgmgc.org for pairing information on Hole and Course assignments. Hole assignments will be posted by Monday morning the week of the tournament on the Club Bulletin Board at GFN. All Club handicaps are posted on the Board and the Club Website. All Men’s Club Tournaments are played under USGA rules.

 Winnings

Any Men’s Club tournament winnings will be put into an account under the individual’s name and CAM number and can be used in any of the pro shops. You may use this credit to pay for guest golf fees, merchandise, and to purchase range balls. You can use any portion of the account to make purchases. The balance will always be as a credit with no expiration date. The Weekly Winners are posted on the Granite Falls Bulletin Board and our website.
